  4. Due to the size of EMPLANT's MAC emulation software, all future versions
  5. will require two disks.

  21. If you obtained this software update as an LHA archive:
  22.  
  23. In order to use the HardDisk_Installer script you have two
  24. choices:
  25.  
  26. 1) Format a floppy disk with the name 'MAC2'. MAKE SURE you use FFS
  27.    (FastFileSystem) when formatting the floppy.  Decompress this
  28.    archive to the floppy and double-click on the HardDisk-Installer
  29.    icon.  
  30.  
  31. 2) Decompress the archive into RAD: and assign MAC2: to RAD:

  35. If you obtained this software update as a .DMS file:
  36.  
  37. Just decompress the file to a floppy and double-click on the
  38. HardDisk-Installer icon.

  42. Use the installer script to create your new setup!  You need the file
  43. 'SetupEMPLANT' in your s: directory, and it is CREATED (not copied)
  44. by the installer script.  You also need the file 'AssignEMPLANT' in
  45. your s: directory, and it too, is CREATED (not copied) by the installer
  46. script.
  47.  
  48. You also need to MAKE SURE that the FIRST line in your startup-sequence
  49. is 'execute >NIL: s:SetupEMPLANT', that the LAST line in your
  50. USER-STARTUP must now be 'execute >NIL: s:AssignEMPLANT'.

  52. Again, these changes are best done by the installer script.
  53.  
  54. If you are using a 68EC030, make SURE that you use the 'EC_Lauch_MAC'
  55. icon to lauch the emulation!
  56.  
  57. The majority of all PP&S 040 boards sold for the A3000 have 'EC'040
  58. chips, and will NOT work with the 'HardLaunch_MAC' script file
  59. (because of the lack of an MMU).
  60.  
  61. If you have a GVP040 board, please have it fixed before attempting to
  62. use it with EMPLANT.  There are numerous problems with these boards
  63. and 'Mr. Hardware' (in NY) can fix them.  These problems are not
  64. related to EMPLANT itself, they are Zorro bus timing related and will
  65. affect any and all Zorro devices in some fashion (maybe just slowing
  66. down the operation of the board).

  68. Some EGS Spectrum boards have level 6 interrupt problems.  If you have
  69. a problem with AppleTalk communications, try removing your Spectrum
  70. board.  If the problem goes away, get your Spectrum board upgraded.
